After serving as an officer in the U.S. Army for nearly a decade during the Vietnam War era, Daniel Graham noticed how difficult it was for veterans to find work.
Seeing that the problem was worsening after wars in the Middle East, Dan decided to launch a business that would provide ready employment for vets and serve the community with a conscience. He found both in Junk King, an eco-friendly junk removal franchise. Together with Marine vet and business partner Alex Powers, Dan opened the Fairfax, Virginia branch of Junk King. The location celebrates its 10th anniversary this year!
Over the years, Dan and Alex have expanded business by focusing on stellar customer service and helping clients get rid of junk quickly and in an environmentally friendly manner. Their backgrounds in the armed services has equipped them with the discipline to execute a tried and tested franchising process.
Our franchise model differentiates itself by recycling most of our hauls, using large trucks for faster service and concentrating on multiple revenue streams from residential and commercial units and government contracts. Vets like Dan and Alex find an opportunity to launch the next phase of their careers where they can be their own boss.
Junk King is also now a part of VetFran, a national organization that promotes business opportunities for armed forces veterans. Vets who qualify receive a 10% discount on Junk King franchise fees. Today, we have 37 franchise partners who are also veterans.
Our franchise partners come from various backgrounds and are united by a commitment to serve the communities they’re a part of. Junk King Fairfax’s 10th anniversary is proof that dedication and a great service model can yield positive dividends for hard-working franchise partners.
