The Official Hauliday Junk Removal Guide

Posted by Junk King on Dec 22, 2021 5:01:00 AM

Something that most people rarely think about during the holidays is junk removal. But many of us think about it quite a bit once the holidays are behind us.

This is why Junk King’s Hauliday Junk Removal can be a welcome “Post-Holiday” gift to yourself.

Tis the Season to Be Wrapping

Christmas hasn’t even arrived, and people are already tired and stressed out. They often have lots of boxes, gift bags, shopping bags, rolls of wrapping paper all over the house - tons of trash. And this is just their pre-Christmas gift wrapping rush.

Depending on where you live and how many people you’re wrapping gifts for, this can be even more stressful if you have to brave the winter weather just to go back out. More gifts that you overlooked. More gift wrap and ribbons. And more tape!

And all the cleaning up afterwards just to get things in shape for having people over, or simply enjoying the holiday celebrations without tripping over trash, waste, debris, and junk, can be a stressful challenge. Unlike Santa’s sack, your trash and recycling bins don’t get any bigger nor will they hold more than they did before the holidays.

So, the trash keeps piling up and adding more stress. And we haven’t even gotten to the rest of the decorations and holiday food…

The Holidays Bring Joy, Peace, and - Trash

It’s a fact: we make more trash and end up with more junk during the holiday season than any time throughout the year.

According to data from Stanford University,

“Americans throw away 25% more trash during the Thanksgiving to New Year's holiday period than any other time of year. The extra waste amounts to 25 million tons of garbage, or about 1 million extra tons per week!”

That works out to about an extra six pounds of trash, every week, for every man, woman, and child in the United States. From Thanksgiving in November until New Year’s Day - about six weeks.

And it all peaks at the Christmas holiday season.

So, what does all this additional trash, waste, and debris look like? Here’s some random examples for you:

  • There are approximately 25-30 million real Christmas trees tossed out in the U.S. every year
  • If every family used just two feet less holiday ribbon, that would save 38,000 miles of ribbon
  • If every American family wrapped three less presents it would save enough paper to cover 45,000 football fields
  • If we each sent one card less, we’d save 50,000 cubic yards of paper

As it is now, there are about 2.65 billion Christmas cards sold each year in the U.S. Most of them get thrown out eventually and the total amount could fill a football field 10 stories high!

Then there’s the food waste.

A large part of that is simply the packaging that has to be thrown out. Then there’s the paper plates, napkins, plastic utensils, and cups. Not to mention the tons of aluminum foil and foil pans that get tossed in the trash - from Thanksgiving through Christmas.

In addition to the food-related trash and debris, there’s the disposable tablecloths, table decorations, decorations for the walls, windows, and doors, and the trees, of course. Toss in all the wrappers, shopping trash, packaging from all the things that we buy to prepare for the holidays, along with the regular waste we produce week in and week out - and you’ve got a lot of trash!

Less Stress After the Holiday Frenzy

‘Twas the day after Christmas, and all through the place,

lay piles of trash from the gift-giving race.

Mom in her slippers and Dad still in bed,

the thought of that mess just filled them with dread.

We’ve all been there - the post-Christmas morning after. Bags of trash, wads of gift tissue, scraps of wrapping paper, bits of tape, a few broken tree ornaments, and maybe something left out in the kitchen that’s gone bad now.

But the “day after” should be a time of relaxation, peace, and quietly experiencing the joy of gifts having been exchanged, friends and family having gotten together, and nothing to do for the rest of the day!

The good news is that, with Junk King’s Hauliday Junk Removal service, we can help you make that happen.

With a simple call, we can make your appointment for Hauliday junk removal and the “day after.” We come in, take all of your holiday junk, and leave you with a nice clean house to enjoy the rest of their holiday in. Junk King’s Hauliday Junk Removal service can give you that welcome stress relief of having a clean home the day after Christmas.

More Hauliday Cheer! Junk King Recycles

Junk King is proud to be North America's greenest junk removal service.

We pioneered recycling-based junk removal when founding the company in 2005, and we've been going green ever since. We accomplish this every day by sorting every junk removal load we pick up for metals, e-waste, paper, household goods, textiles, furniture, and appliances. All of this is done in our recycling warehouses.

Our goal is to recycle as much waste as possible from each and every job - and we succeed in recycling close to 60 percent on average.

But "going green" also means more than recycling. We also donate, re-purpose, and reuse everything we can. At Junk King, we are committed to being industry leaders in helping to keep our planet - and our neighborhoods - clean, green, and beautiful for generations to come.

We like to think that we help put the “red” and “green” into Christmas holiday waste removal!

And when it comes to Christmas waste items and other holiday debris, there is so much of it that can be recycled.

From boxes, cardboard packaging, various types of plastics, and even much of your used gift wrapping paper - it can most likely be recycled. As one paper manufacturer has pointed out,

“Regular and glossy wrapping paper is recyclable unless it has non-paper additives like metallic flakes, colored shapes, glitter and plastics. Foil, metallic and heavily laminated wrapping paper should also be thrown away instead of recycled.”

At Junk King, recycling or repurposing is always our first path for disposal of everything we haul away for you. And, in some locations, even much of the waste that cannot be reused or recycled can be either composted or used as fuel for energy generation.

Hauliday Junk Removal Can Mean Touchless Junk Removal

In early 2020, Junk King responded quickly and proactively to the emerging COVID-19 crisis. And this holiday season the health and safety of our customers, and our families, friends, neighbors, and coworkers continue to be our number one priority.

Here are some of the protocols that are a part of our daily operations as we address this ongoing health crisis:

  • Our crews disinfect their hands with sanitizer and place gloves on their hands before entering any facility.
  • Gloves, masks, and hand sanitizers are provided on every truck used to protect you and our haulers.
  • We provide 100 percent “Touchless Pickup” and maintain a 6-foot distance from every customer.
  • Waste materials can be picked up outside of the property or in a location without direct contact (i.e., garage or carport).
  •  We closely monitor updates from the Centers for Disease Control and World Health Organization regarding COVID-19 and continue to seek guidance from these agencies and public officials.

Enjoy Your Post-Holiday Time with Junk King’s Hauliday Junk Removal

The holidays tend to be filled with lots of activity and sometimes that includes heavy-duty clean-up and hauling things. DIY junk removal in cold weather can be dangerous. Lifting and hauling large junk items like old furniture or heavy boxes of rubbish can lead to pulled muscles or worse.

There's a safer way to manage holiday junk removal.

Your local Junk King team can provide you with efficient, safe, and eco-friendly bulk junk and trash removal both during and after the holidays. At Junk King, our goal is to make the whole process easy for you.

At Junk King, we know that you may also have old household junk items that needed to go so you could make room for your holiday celebrations. You may have meant to take care of it months before, but time got away from you.

We get it! And we can take care of it for you now with our Hauliday Junk Removal service.

The good news is that we'll make sure that those items end up in the right place. That could be a local non-profit group for those items that are still in usable condition, or else to a recycling facility.

That’s because, at Junk King, "being green" and environmentally responsible is at the core of our company mission. And we carry out that mission every day by recycling and donating everything we possibly can. In fact, we recycle up to 60 percent or more of everything we collect.

So, when it comes to holiday trash removal, our eco-friendly process ensures that all the metals, plastics, glass, and other materials are broken down and recycled properly.

And, best of all, we do all the heavy lifting!

You simply point and we haul your holiday trash items into our junk removal trucks, with no hidden fees.

Our professional and insured junk removal and disposal team will call 15 to 30 minutes before we arrive at your home. And, once we’re there, we’ll give you a free estimate based on how much room your holiday trash will take up in our truck - along with any other junk items you want to get rid of.

So, make an appointment by calling us today at 1.888.888.JUNK (5865).
