5 Ways Staging Can Help You Sell Your Home

Staged Home

One of the best investments you can make to a home you are putting on the market is to stage it. In my over ten years of experience as a professional home stager, I have witnessed firsthand how staging a home can increase the salability of a property and typically sell it faster and for top dollar.

A staged home shows it in its best light As a seller, your goal is to generate that feeling of “home” that will inspire a quick and lucrative sale. No matter what the current market is, staging can have a positive impact on a property. In a sluggish market, it can help give your home an attractive advantage. In a strong market, it can help increase the selling price.

Staging has many benefits and should definitely be considered an integral step in the home selling process. Here are 5 ways staging can help sell your home:

1) It shows your home in its best light.

As a homeowner, you become very comfortable in your home. When buyers are searching the market for one of the biggest investments they will ever make, they are much pickier than once they have settled into a place. By staging your home, you ensure that you are putting its best face forward. Just like manufacturers put a lot of care into branding a product’s packaging, the same should be done for your home before it goes on the market.

2) It gives it a “move-in” feel that is attractive to buyers.

Unless they are searching for a fixer-upper, buyers prefer a home that requires the least amount of work to move in to. If you take care of all the necessary repairs and get your home in tip-top shape, buyers will be very attracted to the idea that all they have to do after closing is to move in their stuff.

3) It increases the perceived value of your home.
Everyone wants to believe they are getting the most bang for their buck. Even if the bones are good, the aesthetic is what will determine a buyer’s first impression. You don’t want to give buyers any reason to think your home isn’t worth the money or will require them to invest anything extra to make it livable.

4) It sets your home apart from the competition.
In a competitive market, it is crucial that your home stand out from the rest. You want to create that emotional connection as soon as they walk through the door, so any other home they have toured pales in comparison to how they feel in yours. Staging helps elevate your home’s appeal to speak to a buyer’s emotions.

5) It creates demand for your home.

The best position you can be in as a seller is to have multiple offers and, potentially, a bidding war. This is a lot more likely to happen when a home is well staged and creates that sense of urgency in buyers that makes them say, “I want to live here!” They will fight for what they want.

Staging is one of the most powerful tools you can wield while selling a home. To learn more on how to transform your home with staging, check out my book Stageology: How to Stage to Sell and visit ProfessionalStaging.com.
