You've sold your home and you're ready to move out and into a new house. But how do you manage the large junk disposal task waiting for you?

If you're a homeowner and you've taken advantage of the increasingly positive real estate market, then you're probably planning to move soon. And whether you've recently sold your home, or simply bought a new one and are ready for the big move, odds are you have a lot of junk to deal with.

It is estimated that in the United States homeowners sell their homes on an average of every 5-7 years or so. In California alone home sales have averaged around 400,000 a year. That makes for a lot of moving! And one of the inevitable by-products of a residential move is the years of clutter and unwanted household goods that need to be disposed of.

This can involve either a number of trips to the dump, or local charities, or paying someone to haul it all off for you. But even that can be problematic.

A New Solution to an Old Junk Disposal Problem

Junk King now offers dumpster drop-off services.

Homeowners can rent and load these revolutionary dumpster boxes with ease. Equipped with special polycarbonate wheels, these driveway-friendly boxes will arrive on-site without causing damage to a driveway or property.

These rental boxes are great self-service dumpsters for work projects, home renovations and other types of cleanups. The small size offers a dumpster that is compact, affordable and easy to use.

The dumpster services feature an online booking system. Junk King will drop off the dumpster and arrange for it to be picked-up once filled. The materials will be sorted so the items can be reused, repurposed and recycled.

In addition to redirecting materials away from landfills, the services are insured to make certain nothing is lost or damaged. In terms of pricing, customers only pay for the space used.

Planning Your Move and Your Junk Removal

It is always a good idea to have a plan for making your move as stress-free as possible, including removing all the junk you do not want to move to your new house. And while you may not anticipate every issue that comes up during your move, having a checklist can help the moving process.

This countdown list is based on suggestions offered by Mayflower and should be added to or adjusted to your particular needs:

Week 8

Schedule your appointment for a moving agent to visit your home and prepare a written estimate for your personalized move plan.

Week 7

Sign your estimate and book your move. Lock in your move out date and confirm your plan when you officially book your move.

Week 6

Change your address. Begin notifying others that you are moving. An online change of address form is available on the United States Postal Service website. Change your address with your banks, insurance providers, credit cards and magazine subscriptions. Update your information with doctors, lawyers, accountants and any other professional services.

Week 5

Give away, sell or toss anything you do not need. Toss or recycle anything that can’t be donated, sold or gifted. This is a great time to call in a professional junk hauling firm.

Week 4

Check in with your moving company's move coordinator. Notify your move coordinator if you add or subtract items from your planned move or if there are any changes in dates.

Week 3

Inform your friends and family. Confirm your travel plans. Start packing. Prepare your household.

Week 2

Plan for your pets. Finish your errands (e.g. Pick up anything you had cleaned, stored or repaired. Empty your locker at the club or gym. Return anything you have borrowed from friends or neighbors). Go back and double check this list.

Week 1

Review any last minute details. For example, make sure that all mechanical and electrical equipment is properly serviced for shipping prior to the arrival of the moving truck.

Day before moving day

Identify any extra-fragile items needing special attention. Label any items or boxes you will want first when the truck arrives at your new home

Moving day

Make it a point to be on hand to see that all of your goods are loaded and remain close by until loading is complete. After making a final tour of the house, check and sign the inventory list. Be sure to get your copy

  • Take a last look around
  • Water shut off?
  • Furnace and air conditioner shut off?
  • Light switches turned off?
  • All utilities arranged for disconnection with service providers?
  • Windows shut and locked?
  • Old house keys and garage door openers surrendered?
  • Have you left anything?

A Dumpster That Is Driveway Friendly With a Small Footprint

Once you've gotten your large junk items separating and ready to haul away, it's time to book your Dumpster from Jink King!

Our unique dumpster system is a great solution for residential dumpster rental. Size really does matter and our dumpsters are about the same footprint size of a minivan. This is especially important for residential customers and contractors since these dumpsters will allow use of your driveway while the roll off container sits on it.

And they look good, too. Our dumpsters are clean and brightly painted.  No more rusting hulk of a container taking up 75% of your driveway much like a commercial sized dumpster.

One other important aspect to consider is the fact that we do not cause abrasive damage to your driveway. Our special polycarbonate wheels prevent any damage to your hard surfaces.

In addition, we deliver our dumpsters using smaller trucks than many other companies use. This means that we are not subjecting your driveway to heavy trucks that could possibly crack or damage your driveway. Our trucks  also allow us to get into tighter spaces than other dumpster rental companies, such as tight alleys, narrow driveways, and tight construction sites.

Our goal with the dumpster rental system is to make the whole process easy for you. If you want to experience the efficiency and convenience of on-site junk hauling and removal, simply book a one-time appointment or series of appointments for the length of your job.

We will come to your property, remove your junk or trash, load it into our truck and dispose of it in a safe, eco-friendly manner. Think about it: No unsightly dumpsters that your neighbors glare at or animals may decide to look through at any hour of the day or night. No hauling stuff to the dumpster and struggling to get it in. And no extra fees for labor.
